What is truly amazing about fine art nature photography is what it provokes and inspires. You see a picture of something truly majestic and it makes you feel like you are really there, you feel like part of that photograph, you are in awe of its wonder. And that is the impression that photographers want to instill in everyone and everyone who sees their work.

The impressions that fine art photography produces on nature on an individual are as subjective as the photography itself. If three people look at the same fine art photograph, their impressions can be quite different. This photograph may make a bad impression on one person, a good impression on the other person, and the impression on the third person may be landscape photography prints.

Take a photo of a duck in its natural habitat. One person looks at it and immediately comments on how beautiful the colors of the duck’s wings are. How the reflection of the duck is so sharp and clear that it seems as if another duck is swimming alongside it. The water droplets that adhere to the duck’s body look like tiny diamonds nestled against the warm brown color of the duck’s feathers. Now the second person looks at the nature fine art photo of the duck and comments that the water looks dirty and the duck seems to be unhappy and lonely. And the third person can just shrug and say … “it’s a duck.”

The nature fine art photographer definitely hopes his photography will make more of an impression than a simple shrug of the shoulders and a “it’s a duck” comment. But that’s the beauty of how nature photography makes its impression: open, honest, and subjective. And for nature lovers, this photograph becomes part of your life. If you love whales, these artistic photos of nature appeal to you for their raw power and realism, unlike an interpretation in painting or sculpture.

The fine art photography of nature takes the viewer to that place. If you look at a photograph of waves crashing against jagged rocks long enough, you feel like you’re there – you can almost feel the breeze, smell the salt water, and hear the sounds of the water the moment it hits the rocks. That is the impression that nature photography is intended to give.

People are impressed with places they never go or just can’t go. They are impressed by photos of a wild animal so close; they can almost touch the fur. And they are in awe of the beauty and sheer power that nature photography offers.

Fine art photographs of nature are incorporated into our lives covering the walls of our homes, used as our favorite protectors on our computer screens, even centered on the shirts we wear with pride. Impressions from nature fine art photography, whether good, bad, or indifferent, allow us to form our own opinions about what we like and what we don’t like. They leave an everlasting impression.
