Almost half of Canada and most of Alaska in the north lie beyond the Arctic Circle and suffer from the extremely harsh climate associated with this latitude. In these areas, even in summer, the ice on the tundra rarely melts more than a meter or so, and although the อเมริกาเหนือน่าเที่ยว are surprisingly high, the season is short-lived. Snow and frost are possible at any time of the year, while the northern areas have permanent snow cover. The coast is covered in ice for most of the year.

The entire center of the continent is prone to a severe and highly changeable climate, as the lowlands of the Great Plains and the Canadian Prairies offer no resistance to the winds that blow the continent from the Gulf and the Arctic. The east is quite humid but the west has very little rain, resulting in a desert and semi-desert country in the south.

Winter temperatures in the north can drop to -40 ° C and can be very low even in the south, with strong winds and blizzards. In the north, winter is long-lasting. Summers are sunny and often very hot.

In general, the coastal areas of North America are much kinder than the center of the continent. The Rockies block the Pacific coast due to strong winds, and the climate in the Vancouver area is similar to that of the United Kingdom. The sea breeze keeps it cool further south.

The seasons change quite gradually on the east coast, but the northern areas still suffer from the temperature extremes that give New York its legendary wet heat waves in the summer and cold winter temperatures. New York, despite being much further north, is often much hotter than San Francisco. The Newfoundland area has heavy haze and icebergs to deal with shipping. Florida and the southern Gulf States have a tropical climate, with year-round warm weather and winter sunshine and summer storms. This is the area most affected by hurricanes and tornadoes, although cyclones are possible across the country.

The best time to visit Mexico and Central America is during the dry season in the winter, from November to April. However, the mountains and plains facing the Caribbean have heavy rainfall throughout the year, which is generally worst from September to February. The mountains and plains facing the Pacific have negligible rainfall from December to April.

Central and northern Mexico tend to have a longer dry season, and the wet season is rarely problematic for the traveler, as it generally rains only between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. Temperature is affected by altitude. The unpleasant combination of excessive heat and humidity at the height of the wet season should be avoided, if possible, at lower altitudes.
