Medicare is a federal health insurance program for people who are sixty-five and older, or for people who are under sixty-five with disabilities.

The Trump administration issued a sweeping set of proposals aimed to improve medical care for tens of millions of Americans who have kidney disease. Kidney disease has killed more people than breast cancer has been overlooked for too long.

This act is one of the recent moves that president trump has made in order to make provide more care for people who are enrolled in medicare advantage 2020.

The executive order would direct the federal agencies to educate and treat people with early forms of kidney disease, to make kidney transplant easier to get and to shift the financial incentives for clinics and doctors away from the existing system that relies heavily on dialysis.

President Trump has stated that his administration would work to encourage the development of new treatments such as artificial kidneys as well.

The president has set an ambitious goal to remake how Americans with kidney disease get treated, by aggressively seeking to lower the cost. This is done by encouraging in-home dialysis and organ donation. Both options are deemed better than clinic-based dialysis.

About 37 millions of Americans have chronic kidney disease. Roughly this is estimated as much as 15% of American adults. The medical care for people who has kidney diseases has started since 1973. That was the time when the government did something that was unheard for, covering for the people with end-stage renal disease. If this was not done, many are subjected to not be able to afford care due to the high-cost treatment that is involved.

Medicare, on the other hand, covers about half of a million people with end-stage kidney disease and spends disproportionately on their care. They account for one percent of the Medicare beneficiaries, however, they account for 7 percent of the programs medical claims, estimated around thirty-five percent. The cost to Medicare for kidney each year exceeds $100 billion.

Officials said that they target 80% of newly diagnosed people with end-stage kidney disease to be moved from clinic-based dialysis by the year 2025. They wanted to reduce the number of Americans who develop end-stage kidney disease by 30% before 2030. On the contrary, only about 12% of people who have been identified as having end-stage kidney disease who are getting dialysis at home.

The reasons why there are not many people who have their dialysis treatment in their home is for the fact that physicians do not make money otherwise.

The administration plans on encouraging living donors by adding reimbursement for lost wages and childcare in order to be able to double the number of kidney donors by 2030.

Currently, the administrations are outlining the steps to improve kidney treatment, including streamlining the process for organ transplants and improving financial incentives for patients to use in-home dialysis.
