Inflatable tents have become a go-to item for lovers of camping. The benefits of an inflatable tent are many, compared to the traditional tents. These include ease and speed of setting them up, better strength and resistance to wind, and their versatility. Inflatable tents are really light and portable, and they are also durable. With proper care, they could last decades. Whether you are solo camping or camping with friends, you need the most suitable inflatable tent. Below are some things to watch out for when selecting a tent.

Water resistance

Water resistant should be top among your priority for a camping tent. In the case of unpredicted weather changes, you need to ensure that you and your property will not be soaked. Consider that you may also need to use the camping tent for other functions when you get home. These include renting it out, as a pet house, or as a place to hold a party during those winter days. It is always better, therefore, to get a water resistant tent.

Material

When traveling, you will want to choose a lightweight material for portability. Cotton material is much bulkier while polyester is lighter and much cheaper. If the weather is quite wet, you will also need a quick-drying material like polyester. Polyesters are much cheaper too.

Size

The size of the tent you choose will depend on how many people you need to accommodate. A small tent is suitable for solo camping. You will need one big tent or several ones to accommodate more people. Check the floor area. You can choose from 15-20 square feet of floor area per person. Calculate the height of the tent too. You should be able to sit in or stand comfortably.  To calculate the height of the tent, take away 2-3 inches from the stated peak height of the tent.

Check for vents

Vents are vital as they allow fresh air in, allow for proper air circulation, and keep you cool during hot nights. Check out for inflatables with meshed doors or windows. Adequate flow of air will help you feel comfortable as you rest.

Backpack and repair kit

Most inflatable tents come with a backpack, so ensure you get one. They also come with a repair kit that you can use just in case accidents happen. Ensure you get these whenever you are purchasing an inflatable tent.

Versatility

An inflatable tent can be designed to inflate into different shapes. If you want a little versatility, find an inflatable tent that can go into several forms to suit your need.

The kind off tent you choose depends on your specific needs. Factors such as space, weather conditions, ventilation, and material come into play. Inflatable tents may also not come cheap, so the price could be another factor that you may have to consider. For better care of your tent, you can place it under a piece of plastic or nylon sheet. A sheet will help keep it safe from scratches and prevent wear and tear.
