Being behind the wheel is a huge responsibility, and that is why you are supposed to pass the test of parallel parking during your driving test. However, taking such a test is no joke, as it will determine whether you will get a driver’s license or not.

Besides, the important thing is to pass the test on the first attempt. It might be difficult, but you must prepare before the driving test, so you don’t become nervous. Below are ways on how to do parallel parking for the driving test.

Let’s check it out!

How to do Parallel Parking for Driving Test

Step 1: Pull Your Car to the Spot You Want to Park

After stopping your car, it’s good to check if there are any blind spots. Before you indicate that you want to park, ensure that the road is clear so as not to create traffic. Once the road is clear, slowly move alongside the other car while checking your side mirrors for oncoming cars or pedestrians.

Step 2: Position Your Car Parallel to the Other Car

Again check your mirrors and watch out for blind spots. If there are oncoming vehicles, pedestrians, or cyclists, wait for them to pass. Align your car by ensuring your right side mirror is parallel to the driver’s mirror of the car you want to park behind.

Remember to keep at least a distance of two to three feet from the other car. In the meantime, you can check out some parallel parking tips.

Step 3: Make a Reverse on the Spot You Want to Park

Now, your car is in the perfect position to reverse on the parking spot. Again, before you make any moves, check your mirrors and blindspot for oncoming pedestrians or vehicles. Once it’s clear, you can begin to reverse.

Turn the steer to the right and slowly move backward. Stop when you see the car behind you in your left mirror. Move your car straight towards the curb. Straighten your wheels and reverse until your right mirror shows the taillight of the car in front of you.

Turn your wheels to the left and reverse slowly until you are in a perfect position. You can still adjust your position by moving forward or backward until you are in a good position between the two cars.

Step 4: Straighten Up

Straighten up your car and ensure it’s parallel to the curb while maintaining a suitable distance from it. Remember to keep on checking your side mirrors and the blind spots. Before you completely stop the car, you can still make adjustments.

Ensure to leave an equal length from the car in front and behind you so that it can be easy for you to maneuver out of the parallel parking spot.
