On my recent visit to the local pub, I was actually impressed by their ice machine churning out ice in quick succession. Gone are the days of using ice trays, keeping them in the freezer for 24 hours and waiting for them to solidify and be ready to use in cocktails and other drinks. These ice machines are ideal for a busy bar or pub that has a constant demand for drinks on Friday or Saturday nights. The summer periods also require a constant flow of ice, as many would prefer to cool off with their favorite drink and some ice chips.
So how do ice machines work? Are they exclusive to catering companies? Well the answer to the last question is no, they are available for home and commercial use. Therefore, it is a question of knowing which one to select and purchase. It is always a good idea to do a little research on the different types of ice makers available to buy at home, because if a good quality ice machine is what you are looking for then you would need to know what constitutes a good quality ice fundraiser ideas.
The first thing to understand about an ice maker is that there are two different types, an ice bucket and a flake ice machine. Both are good for making cocktails, frozen drinks, or anything that may or may not require a large amount of ice. In some cases, both the ice bucket and the flake machine can be used to produce a large quantity of flake ice in beverages. However, ice flakes are better suited for slush pups or fancy cocktails.

Some public establishments require that the ice have a certain appearance, such as producing very clear ice cubes or having them in a specific shape. The only way to produce a “designer” ice cube like this is to use an ice machine that sprays water upward into specially shaped molds and then freezes very quickly. Clear consistency is achieved because the upward motion of the water spray forces all impurities in the water to fall off before it freezes into the molded form. The result is an ice cube that looks elegant, transparent and strong, which means it takes longer to melt.
Now if you’re not so concerned about the shape or consistency of your ice cube, then perhaps owning the mechanism is a satisfying achievement in itself. Most people will be impressed with the fact that they can pay a short visit to a machine and purchase some quick cubes, instead of waiting a long time for the cubes to freeze. Ice makers are generally judged by how much ice they can produce in a specific period of time. For example, producing up to 10 kg of ice in an hour is worth about 3,000 pounds; a machine like this is often seen in large catering companies. A homemade machine is more likely to contain 2kg of ice and will cost about 200 pounds or less.
Deciding what type of ice maker you want will depend on how much you use it. If you are only buying the machine for the summer period or for parties, then it is more suitable for one that does not contain as much ice. These are not necessarily of a lower quality in the ice they produce, but they run a bit slowly and will not need as much maintenance as an industrial machine. However, they must be kept clean to keep them working efficiently.
