1. Not in the sun:

Washing your car certainly looks better on warm days, whereas almost no one likes the idea of washing their car in the middle of winter in temperatures approaching zero. But be careful: you should avoid washing your car in direct sunlight.

The reason? It’s simple: too much heat leads to rapid evaporation of the water, which prevents an effective wash and leads to the famous halos. In the height of summer, it is, therefore, a good idea to wash the car in a shady area. If it is not possible to get away from the sun’s rays, it is advisable to wash the vehicle in two stages, first at the back and then at the front, so as not to be fooled by the rapid evaporation of water.

2. Cool the bonnet:

We have seen that very hot bodywork does not lend itself to good Rengøring af bil. As we all know, it’s not just the sun that heats up the car: the engine can also make the bonnet hot. If you can’t or don’t want to wait, it is advisable to cool the bonnet with cold water before washing.

3. Pre-wash first:

Effective car washing should be done in stages. More specifically, before you start the actual washing process – with a soapy sponge, of course – it’s best to do a good pre-wash. What does this phase consist of? It’s easy to say: a good pre-wash is used to remove the most superficial and coarse dirt. To do this, it is best to spray the entire car body with car wash detergent, leave it to work for a few seconds and then rinse it off, preferably using pressure. Then the car is ready for a proper wash!

4. The right tools:

Car bodywork should be treated with care and the right tools. This means that for effective cleaning, you need the right tools – not, for example, a kitchen degreaser or the sponge you usually use to clean furniture. If you clean your car without using a self-service facility, you will need a good, scratch-resistant sponge, car cleaner, one or more microfibre cloths and, if possible, a high-pressure cleaner.

5. The two buckets:

Here are two important accessories to add to the list above. Having two simple buckets is essential for a professional car wash. One bucket holds the water and detergent for the car, while the other holds clear water for rinsing the sponge during the wash. In this way, the sponge will always be clean, without the dirt that has just been removed being left on the bodywork.

6. The importance of drying:

Let’s close with the last fundamental step of a good car wash, drying. To avoid the formation of halos, it is a good idea to complete this activity by carefully drying the car, using clean microfibre cloths, from top to bottom.
