Stainless steel pipe welding

Generally, any given grade of Stainless Steel Pipe is chosen on the basis of primary requirements of the application it needs to be used for. Meaning, if an application require good resistance to corrosion with good tensile strength properties even at moderately elevated temperatures as well a low temperatures, austenitic class stainless steel grade 304 is considered to be perfect in this situation.

Aside from these features, stainless steel grade 304 is one such alloy that can be readily welded.  Arc welding processes such as TIG, MIG, MMA and SA can be easily used to weld the stainless steel seamless pipe. On heating, stainless steel grade 304 is a non-hardenable alloy, which is why they exhibit good toughness property. Therefore there is no need to perform a pre- or post-weld heat treatment on the alloy due to its outstanding weldability properties. In fact, the metal is also resistant to intergranular corrosion in an as-welded condition.

A combination of its good tensile strength, good corrosion resistance along with toughness and good weldability make this austenitic grade 304 Stainless Steel Pipe a popular choice in many industries.
