It is the country’s political, cultural and financial center and much happening state. The vibrant Abu Dhabi is expanding and is a metropolis attracting visitors from the other countries of Middle East, Asia and other parts of the globe. It lies along the Persian Gulf and is a much important player in the global map. Abu Dhabi is now an attractive tourist destination and offers outdoor adventure enthusiasts the opportunity to snorkel the reefs of the Gulf.

The sea coast of the Persian Gulf attracts water enthusiasts due to their warmth and clarity. The water temperature near Abu Dhabi stays around 77 degrees Fahrenheit all around the year. When it comes to summer season the water temperature reaches to 93 degrees. The visibility level varies according to location; anyway the water around Abu Dhabi gives visibility between 15 and 30 feet as there is very little tidal movement of currents.

Waters of Abu Dhabi is full of wide range of marine life. There are many coral reefs in the areas and due to this favorable factor there are lot of reef species life hammour, sailfish, eels, seahorses, starfish, sea anemones and crustaceans. Those lucky enough will spot some dugongs, manatee like mammals that dwell in the sea of Abu Dhabi. According to the latest estimates, almost 2,500 dugongs live in Abu Dhabi’s waters making it the world’s second-largest dugong population. Endangered hawksbill turtle can be sighted feeding on sponges and jellyfish among Abu Dhabi’s coral reefs.

There are off the shore islands in Abu Dhabi which has immense scope for snorkeling with clear water and variety marine life, located along Abu Dhabi’s “Cornich” or promenade. The famous desert islands are Sir Bani Yas Island, Dalma Island and six discovery Islands. Tourists and natives find Sir Bani Yas Island a perfect place for snorkeling from the beach; they can also take a boat snorkel tour to a shipwreck at one of the Discovery Island. Saadiyat Island is just a five minute drive from downtown; the place has stunning five miles of beach which is a great spot for snorkeling on the northwestern shore of the island.
