The clock has not been considered for a long time as a device for determining the current time of day. Today it is a fashionable accessory indicating the status of the owner and a good addition to the image. And if we are talking about a sports watch, then this is also the possibility of effective monitoring of activity, sleep and general condition of the body.

There are many criteria for choosing a watch, but the main ones are the mechanism, material, style and budget. Since the range of products is quite wide, a modern person can afford to have a collection of accessories – from universal for every day to unique for special occasions, from strict minimalist to luxurious with meticulous detail.

The purpose of modern watches is to complement the image of the owner, to make it complete and harmonious, to emphasize the status and position in society. But buying a watch is not enough: it is important to understand how, where and with what to wear it.

ON WHICH HAND IS IT CUSTOMARY TO WEAR A WATCH AMONG MEN?
Pocket watches were at their peak in the 18th-19th centuries. Every self-respecting gentleman with a level of wealth above average and status had this convenient and fashionable accessory – a dial on a long chain. Over time, the product was modernized: two arcs on the sides allowed them to be worn on a belt and fastened over clothes. This model was called a trench and was relevant for the military personnel of the ground forces. A more modern version, namely a wristwatch, was developed for aviation. For a long time, they were only available to the military and were part of the equipment. And only many years later, they became available to civilians, which increased their popularity hundreds of times.

WRISTWATCHES: ARE THERE RULES?
Most people wear a wristwatch on their left wrist. This has nothing to do with etiquette, but is explained by the ease of use, since 85% of the population is right-handed.

The workload of the working (if the person is right-handed) hand can reduce its performance, or rather the watch on the right wrist interferes with any manipulation.
It is, of course, more convenient for right-handers to put on, take off and maintain watches with their right hand. If you pay attention to the location of the crown for winding the movement, it is located on the right of the case.
The risk of damaging the dial or strap is minimized when worn on the left hand.
These two criteria are not generally accepted rules: on which hand it is better to wear the watch – in each case it is decided individually.
